Hello and welcome to December!  This holiday season has already looked so different for our family, as I am sure it has for many around the world.  No large gatherings with family and friends, instead celebrations are kept very small and virtual at times.

This year I celebrated Thanksgiving with my parents (who have been in our little pandemic bubble), my husband and our sweet two year old Australian Shepherd, Bernadette.  The holiday season is my favorite time of year and we always try to make traditions a priority no matter the circumstances.  This year, given the circumstances, those traditions are more important than ever I feel.

Cards must be addressed early and are usually accompanied by vintage postage. Although spending more money than needed to mail something isn't something my husband understands as a priority, but demand that it is necessary to complete the look.  Decorations go up following Thanksgiving, we have hot chocolate almost every day and most of all we really make it a point to spend time with family time.  It's important to make it a priority to call your family and friends, especially those you haven't spoken to in a while. Everyone is having a challenging time this year with the pandemic still in full force, so making even small gestures to say "We're thinking of you" can make all the difference.
Newlywed Holiday Excitement

Many couples are experiencing this holiday season as their first season married.  Anytime there is a first for anything, it's exciting!  Most this year will not be able to celebrate with extended family or friends which, let's face it, is probably going to feel odd as have most of the 2020 holidays.

I find that sending a holiday greeting card is not only a wonderful way to usher in a new era as a married couple complete with a new name (if you changed your name) but as a wonderful way to stay close to those you love.  When it comes to holiday cards, the options can seem endless and overwhelming though.  Photo cards created with your favorite wedding photo, or one from any other time of the year is always a fan favorite when sending cards.  Though they are most popular, they are not the only holiday card options.  A thoughtfully hand written note can sometimes mean more and be the perfect thing your friend or family member needs this holiday season. <<Click here for information about wedding planning>>

Personally, I take joy in designing and hand making our holiday cards, making them unique and different each year. This year I took inspiration from previous travels to Italy and remembering all our fun scooter rides around town.  Like many, my husband and I had to cancel a long planned trip to Italy this year, but I know we will get a chance to go back!

A fun little background on the importance of Italy to my family personally: Aside from my husband being Sicilian, we met there just over 10 years ago while I was studying abroad and he was visiting family.  Talk about a small world!

Although many couples are choosing to postpone their weddings, there are a few alternative options for those who would like to hold their wedding during the pandemic. Keeping you and your guests as safe as possible while still allowing the celebration to commence, takes a little extra planning to make sure there is nothing left to chance.
Here are four pandemic wedding options to consider.

Live-Streamed Wedding

A live-streamed wedding could include the couple, the officiant, and a few immediate family members or friends, while your guests join via video from the comfort and safety of their own home. Though this options keep everyone physically distant, it is still a thoughtful way to keep family and friends close to you during such a special moment. You can absolutely still include flowers, formal attire (or not), and dancing. DJs are to offering virtual mixing services for couples wanting a dance party in their living room!

Micro Wedding

A small, intimate gathering with 50 or fewer people, including any vendors and staff. The entire event can be live streamed for those who are not in attendance. A micro wedding during the pandemic could include a small ceremony with formal photos after, and a mini reception complete with the couple's introduction and first dance, a cake cutting,
optional dinner and a grand exit.

Hold your event outdoors and include lawn games, keeping the event in a low risk setting.

Multi - Celebration

A micro wedding, or live streamed wedding now with a full celebration the following year is a great option for those wishing to keep their original wedding date or at least the original year.. For an extra special touch, hold your big celebration on your 1 year anniversary!

Full Postponement

The best option for those not wanting to deal with pandemic style requirements, is to postpone their wedding until the pandemic is under control. Creating a postponement checklist and game plan is essential in making the transition smooth and understandable for all your guests. Gold Anchor Weddings and Design can help with all of this.
Postponement Announcement Inquiry

Always check with your state and local government for specific guidelines and restrictions regarding COVID-19.

Important reminder for rescheduling your wedding. . .

Yes, vendors will likely have a rescheduling fee to secure your booking for the new date even during a pandemic. Couples are rebooking celebrations once, and sometimes two or three times due to the uncertainty surround the global health crisis. With so many postponements likely to still happen, expected to pay a rescheduling fee to secure the new date with each of your vendors. Some vendors are able to waive this fee, but it is completely at the discretion of your vendor. I advise my clients to anticipate paying a rescheduling fee, and be happily surprised if it is not required!
